IMG_0583.jpeg

Federica D’Antoni is a PhD student at the Department of Linguistics at KU Leuven under the supervision of Elwys De Stefani and Lorenza Mondada. Using the methods of conversation analysis and interactional linguistics, her thesis analyses spontaneous interactions occurring in semi-public space, such as doctors’ waiting rooms, in particular in multilingual areas. Based on video and audio recordings, her research investigates how people enter and inhabit a waiting area, how and when they engage in conversation with others and how the organisation of waiting and queuing is achieved. Federica is part of the Multimodality, Interaction & Discourse (MIDI) research group at KU Leuven.
